Benjamin Tubb originally hails from London, UK and started playing in secondary school, starting on Trumpet before ending up on Tenor Horn. He studied his undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester, where he majored in Composition and Tenor Horn. As a horn player he’s played as a member of the Hepworth, The YBS Band, and Brighouse and Rastrick Brass bands. As a composer, Ben’s works have been played extensively in the US, Europe and Australia as well as on the BBC radio network. Most recently, he has had pieces chosen for the Queensland State Championships in 2016. In 2011, Ben moved to live in New York City as a music teacher, but after three years of living in the big apple, he (un)luckily fell in love and this brought him to Brisbane, Australia in 2014. He’s been Solo Horn with Brisbane XLCR ever since and couldn’t be happier! Since arriving down under he is currently the National Australian Tenor Horn Champion, Colin Topp Slow Melody champion and a proud member of the National Australian Brass Band where he played Solo Horn on his first course.
As a “real job”, Ben currently sells bathtubs. Apt, considering his last name. Although he is currently studying his Cert. IV and Diploma of Graphic Design, and plans to get out of the bathroom industry as soon as he can!
