Chris Thomson is a trombone freelancer around south-east Queensland with over 20 years invested in the craft. Chris has performed around the world at various music festivals, jointly formed the QLD Trombone Quartet in 2014, and has been teaching music since 2005. Over the years, Chris has performed with Brisbane’s many orchestras, jazz bands, brass bands, and contemporary groups, as well as chasing his own quartet adventures, and he is often found working alongside Queensland’s best musicians in both contemporary and classical music. Highlights include performing with John Hoffman, Steve Newcomb, Marina Prior, James Morrison, Peter Furler, The Idea of North, The Grigoryan Brothers, and performances in the 2015 SliderAsia International Conference. Amongst his busy schedule, he enjoys music theatre, playing with companies like Harvest Rain, and is currently learning under contemporary artist Benjamin Marks while completing his long overdue Bachelors at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.
