Brave Windsor Brass players Mark Nettle, Jeff Herbert, Michael Johannessen, and Rowan Yates also competed in the open solo performances and proved to be serious competitors against players from the A-grade bands.
Windsor Brass’ big brother Excelsior, led by Howard Taylor, dominated the A-grade competition, taking out each individual event and the overall championship by a remarkable margin of 18 points! Brisbane Excelsior’s musical prowess and maturity is always evident in their performances, and sets a great example for Windsor Brass and a high standard to continue striving towards.
The time spent away not only highlighted Windsor’s dedication to producing quality and entertaining brass band music, but also gave band members a chance to interact and bond on a more personal level. This will no doubt have positive implications for the band’s future development on both a social and musical level.
