Ross Moloney started playing cornet in 1994 (age 7), learning from his grandfather. Ross has always enjoyed playing in Brass Bands and his first inspirations came from his grandfather and cousins who were also keen brass bander’s. Ross played cornet for 10 years before moving to Euphonium with the Capricornia Silver Band.
In 2005 Ross moved to Brisbane and joined the Brisbane Excelsior Band on 2nd Baritone. In 2010, he progressed on to 1st Baritone and has been apart of winning 8 National Australian Championships, 2 New Zealand National Championships, 6 QLD Championships, attended the All England Masters in 2006 and the British Open in 2009, as well as winning various solo prizes, including: 2006 National Junior Baritone & 2010 National Baritone champions, QLD State Baritone champion on 5 occasions, including the Champion Of Champions in 2015.
Ross has been a committee member of XLCR since 2008 and is also a member of the National Australia Brass conducted by Prof. David King, as the 1st Baritone since 2013.
